New background stamping video!!!

Check out how easy it is to rubber stamp your own backgrounds.  All you need is three or four favorite colors and three or four favorite stamps and you can create beautiful backgrounds yourself!

Here is a gorgeous card and below you will find a quick video that shows you how to stamp the background: 

Do you see how the background ties in with the other things in teh card?

• The ribbon and brad match the color of the crown!
• The card base (So Saffron) is in the background with the "diagonal thingies"!
• The center image matches the background (Cherry Cobbler)!

Like the stamps?  Here are the sets that I used

Grunge Rock (wood) or (clear)

Glimmer Brads for a Spunky Look!

Do you want your flowers to pop out on your card?  Then use some fancy brads.  I've got In-Color Glimmer Brads on this card and I have to say I really, really like them.  These flowers are my favorite!!!

The Glimmer Brads are larger than yesterday's small brads and that means they also have longer "prongs" on the back.  This makes them the perfect choice when you want to make large flowers with LOTS OF LAYERS!!!

Little Brads for a Whimsical Touch

I find this card with the small brad in the matching color truly special because it leaves the focus on the background and  overall composition of the card.

When you look at the other two cards, you see what I mean because their brads really put the focus on themselves and the flowers they are in.

Stampin' Up! has amazing brads for all of your needs.  Here is a great link to view them all.

What I love about them most, is that they are organized by color family just like the paper is.  So if you prefer rich, earthy colors, you want to choose the Regals Collection.  If you are more into subtle, soothing colors, you get your paper, inks and embellishments in the Subtles or Neutrals collection.  But you can also mix and match very easily between them all.

Use Brads to give your cards a Unique Look!

Brads are a great way to personalize your cards.  Here I have three birthday cards for you that have different personalities because I used different brads.  Otherwise they'd be identical!

Here is the recipe for the identical parts:

1. The base is constructed with Crumb Cake cardstock (8.5 by 4.25, scored at 4.25).
2. The background paper (5.25" by 4.25") from the Everyday Enchantement DSP which is a sneak peak from the new SAB brochure.  SAB starts January 24th!!!
3. The greeting is from the stamp set Upsy Daisy and I stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock (2" by 4" and torn on one edge) with Pool Party ink. 
4. The flower stem is from the set For All You Do and I stamped in Always Artichoke to be a bit darker than the Lucky Limeade in the DSP.
5. The flowers are cut from the same DSP as the background but this is the reverse side.  I cut them with my Big Shot and the Floral Fusion Sizzlits Die.  They are popped up with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Brads are such a fun and great embellishment that I will talk about them in the next three posts.  So come and see me tomorrow!

Handmade Thank You Cards - day 2

I don't know about you, but I like for all my cards to reflect the personality of the person I make the card for.  I can't help it because as I make the card, I think of the person and his or her personality creeps into the card. 

When I set out to make a card for my friend Traci, I immediately went for my favorite stamp set and surrounded the girl with whimsical colors from Traci's house.  Thanks for being my friend!

Handmade Thank You Cards

This thank you card was for my good friend Peggy, who saves me whenever I am in a pickle with picking up my kids at school.  She is an amazing friend.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The last three weeks have been an adventurous mix of scary and amazing and I would like to send a huge thank you to all of you who have helped me through my medical adventure that started in the ER and ended with surgery a little over a week ago.

The scary part was that I don’t like being a patient.  I don’t like being poked, prodded, scanned (CT scan drinking mixtures are really awful!!!) and as I was being wheeled into the OR, I thought of the many times that I have dropped off my car at the mechanic’s shop while hoping that the part that was going to be worked on would really, truly be the one that needs fixed.  I was also thankful that the anesthesiologist gave me some sort of relaxant so that I could enjoy the comparison with the car (and how often I’ve taken it in for one thing only to bring it back a week later for something else) without being completely freaked out.  After all, I am NOT a car (or at least I wasn’t last time I checked). 

The amazing part was my family and my friends.  It was such a wonderful and humbling experience to feel how loved I am.  My family is truly amazing and without giving to many details (if I get started, I will end up writing a book) I do want to say that I will remember this as the time when I wasn’t allowed to carry anything heavier than my coffee cup.  Courtney turned out to be my police officer and that was really neat.  Meals were dropped off at my house, I received gorgeous cards, loving and funny texts, …  Thank you to all of you!

Now I am almost back to my spunky self.  I am still not allowed to chase my girls – which at Courtney’s speed would be like chasing a cheetah.  I am very excited to be back on my blog, too, rather than sitting in doctor’s offices on my medical adventure.

This week, you can expect to see both thank you cards that I have made while I was sick and I will also catch you up on promotions and news that you may have missed.
